BPC had dropped off at our door this AM some documents that show more gamesmanship and internal corruption by Mike Polombo. On October 18, 2007 an officer was issues an NOI related to the Baseline Killer. In this NOI this officer was accused (apparently by Mike Polombo) that he leaked information to the news media on Adrian McCormick, Omar Hralima and a PowerPoint that was intended for the Grand Jury.
Needless to say officer Dave was a bit shocked and hurt by the accusations. A few of the alleged news reports were reported by separate news stations, while others were somewhat public in the PPD and could have been told by virtually anyone. For whatever reason, Mike Polumbo was convinced and assured that this officer was the source of the leaks, or just simply want to mess with someone's career.
On February 18, 2008 (4 months later) the NOI was concluded. After obtaining the accused officers cell phone records it was determined that “No information was found which would support the allegations listed on the Notice of Investigation” signed by Ken Mentzer (#4931). This Investigation was purged according to internal procedures but who really cares, as the damage was already done.
So naturally the accused officer went back and asked the question we all would, “How did this happen and what evidence was provided by Mike Polombo to warrant an NOI?” the answer he received is not surprising or shocking; what we all know here and how the FOJ network operates.
This all of a sudden wasn’t an “Investigation” but merely an ”Inquiry” by the department, therefore any indicia, records or information that Mike Polombo had was not going to be provided or shared with poor officer Dave. That's like saying, "That's not a bullet in your body sir, but merely a piece of lead."
Who has given Mike Polombo carte blanch to maliciously accuse anyone of anything without any repercussions? Does this go on every day at the PPD? One may simply accuse someone of some injustice and not be held accountable as long as you are an FOJ? Perhaps it was Polombo who leaked whatever, to whomever, and this was his way of covering up the trail by accusing another officer. Why doesn't someone investigate that? This report reads like the Salem Witch Trials.
It is no wonder that people have an ax to grind against Polombo. Is this the crap he is pulling in Homicide? Then this jerk was in PSB under chief Jack Ass?
Mike Polombo: I know you and Heather read this Blog. Why don't you grow some testicles and tell us your version of this story and why you had an innocent officer investigated and what evidence you had to support it? Fair is Fair Mike. How would you like it if every officer attached to BPCs began accusing you of stuff? You know Mike, having files at your home violated HIPAA laws. Perhaps we should begin an investigation on you for that, among other things? BPC will do a records request on all your emails to see what we may find.
Thanks to the cops who dropped this off IN FULL UNIFORM.

BPC is right on the mark AGAIN! Mike Polombo was used to bullying people (I was one of them) and treating them however he chose without any accountability. After all he had Uncle Bill to protect him. I hope once this goes to trial a request will be made by attorneys to subpoena all investigations done on Polombo. They will go nuts when they find out there are none. People in the phoniex pd dont understand the damage they cause when they throw NOIs out on people. The lasting affect is horrible. Once accussed it doesnt matter if it is unfounded-the accusation still hangs on your shoulder forever. MIke-think of the people you made there livs miserable. The list will be long. Start calling them and apologizing. Maybe some of this will stop if you are sincere. You have lost all credibility with your people. They laugh behind your back when they read this stuff. They laugh at night when they share this with there spouses. You are in control if you want to make this stop. Are you big enough to admit when you were wrong? Think about it.
Having read all of these posts I am not sure who is a bigger villan and who has absued their power more: Mike Pulumbo or Andy Anderson
You guys need to realize the effects your decisions make when you begin internal investigations on your subordinates.
Do the right thing and stop this nonsense now. Dump the investigations that are nothing more than vendettas and your credibility will return.
DEar BPC:
1: Thank you for posting a photograph of Sergeant Mike Pulumbo. I was not sure who he was until I saw his photograph on the homepage of this website. Now I know who he is. I see him everyday at 620 and I laugh at hime when he is not looking. This must be a recent photo since his mustache and ears have not changed.
2: I do not know if this is true but I was told Sergeant Pulumbo put a Public Records Request in for every e-mail sent to PLEA from a city computer. Come on Mike, it would be so much easier if you would just call all of the people you wronged while you were in Professional Standards and just apologized. You should be able to complete all of these calls in the next 25 years.
3: Mike: I do not like you either!

I vote Andy Anderson. He seems to enjoy making other people sweat during ridiculous ad unnecessary internal investigations. I suggest a new poll be constructed so we can all vote on who is more evil.
What is wrong in the homicide unit? We have a sergeant that looks like Mr. Potato Head and a lieutenant that looks like Howdy Doody.

This behavior is a regular practice on the Phoenix Police Department. Whenever a supervisor is threatened by a subordinates intelligence or work ethic they do what they can to put them down either through negative notes, bullshit NOI's or general work harrassment until the employee is so beat down they just don't give a fuck anymore and become lazy and uncaring in their work.
I know so many officers that work hard and want to do good work but how can they when they are booged down with an unreasonable work load, poor resources (lab), and then to top it off insecure and vengeful supervisors who have no ability to manage different personalities or work projects.
