We have been asked often, “What prompted the letter of reprimand?” Our sources on Jack Harris’ staff told us it was something that happened in a meeting with all the assistant chiefs. Jack and a meeting trainer were making off-color and lewd comments that weren't quite worthy of the words published in this blog, but they were unbecoming of a chief. And here is Eric Edwards telling us in not so many words, the letter didn't exist. This reply letter was written by Eric Edwards, but he attached Jack's name to it.
So just to be clear - we did a public records request on a letter of reprimand dated February 2, 2010, for Jack Harris.
Jack Harris replies to it via his lawyer buddy Eric Edwards on April 2nd - that the February 2nd letter sent to him, is not in his hands or his office in Phoenix and doesn't know if it exists?

It's truly incredible what corrupt lying shitstains these guys really are and what's worse is how blatant and overt they are about it.

Lieutenant Mark Hafkey is president of PPSLA. He represents
supervisors, not officers.
Hafkey was quoted in a AZ Republic story this morning where he
stated:
Contreras served 18 years and quit two years shy of receiving his
full pension, according to the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association.
Phoenix police Lt. Mark Hafkey, who worked south Phoenix with
Contreras, said Contreras was known as an aggressive officer who
distrustful of management. "(Contreras) was the kind of guy who
was always pushing the limits of policy," said Hafkey, now
president of the Phoenix Police Sergeants and Lieutenants
Association.
"He was always involved in some kind of (internal) investigation."

Why would Hafkey be contacted by a reporter to make a comment about
a officer? Maybe Hafkey routinely speaks with this reporter and
this one slipped? I can see Hafkey talking to this reporter on some
"leak" or sensitive information and the reporter asked him, "what
do you think of Contreras"? Without thinking Hafkey commented when
he should have been smart enough to keep his mouth shut.
Could this be your leak? Hafkey is always on the fourth floor and
has a lot of contacts in city hall.
Why do you supervisors allow Mark Hafkey to represent you? Now he
is making deragatory comments on officers. He has no business
talking to the media about non-members.
A visiting Newark, NJ Police Union supervisor was visiting a few months ago on business and Hafkey was telling him during a meeting about how Harris does not support the department or his staff and that Harris needs to be fired now!
All in public and that is a fact!

You will never see anything, ever, written about jack harris like this. Maybe something more on this line. "Unrespected PSM Harris, hated by PLEA and PPSLA who are both calling for him to resgin, or retire again, has not been in a police car on patrol in, well, too many years to count, probably because he would never get anyone to back him up on a call yet alone an officer willing to drive him around for a shift."
Time to leave harris. If you truly support and care about this department like you say, please leave before it gets any worse.
