Where is the investigation into Commander Benny Pina? What Were the Results?
Back in January (January 14th to be exact...), we submitted two requests for investigations into Phoenix police commander Benny Pina. Benny loves using the word “nigger” and made some racist comments against Terry Yahwey an African American cop. Benny was also caught working out with a young female, on duty outside of his precinct which is a significant liability for the city. Benny is obese, and he needs to exercise in pre-approved areas should he hurt himself coughing or dropping a deuce.
Nine months later, we have heard nothing on where this investigation stands, why it is taking so long or what the results were. This is typical of the city of Phoenix.
Their own Ops orders (Ops order 3.19.1.A) has them providing us with an initial complaint control number, the results of the investigation and whatever punishment was doled out.
You know and we know investigations don’t take nine months, especially with the level of details we provided.
You know and we know the last people on the planet the City of Phoenix and the Phoenix PD want to be accountable to is us.
You know and we know that they don’t want to provide us the results of any investigation as we will post them here for the public to see.
What you don’t know (but we do) is that an investigation was completed, punishment was administered but the City of Phoenix and the Phoenix PD conveniently “forgot” to let us know.
A mistake? An oversight? An administrative mistake?
It’s doubtful.
It’s the problem we rant about. Phoenix police (all police departments) do not feel accountable to citizenry. They don’t respect citizenry. They have no regard for citizenry but they love to let us know that they will lay down their lives for the same citizenry and expect special treatment and special conditions for doing so. Painful as it sounds, a job is a job. You choose the job and all the risks that go with it and one shouldn't get special treatment for doing so!
So here is our follow up letter along with our original requests requesting an update. We will post their replies.

I have been following your blog for a while and while at first I didnt fully agree with the way you excoriate these guys in a public forum, as months and years pass; I understand why you do it. You’re right; they feel accountable to no one and you hit the nail on the head with the lack of respect for citizenry.
I was debating with a cop friend of mine about the merits of the 2nd Amendment. I told him that gun ownership isn’t about protection, gun collecting or being a minute man. I told him it was the great equalizer and was government and cops respect for citizenry as you mention in your blog. As long as they know we are armed or have the ability to arm ourselves, that gives us some level of respect.
Even though this blog is public, even though you get multiple thousands of people reading it every month (I can see from your counter about 3500 in the past week alone), even though you post the letters you send, they still have the audacity to ignore you and have no respect for you.
If this is the case, how would the response be if a citizen like me without a website, the publics ear and a blog sent in my own letter? This is very telling indeed. Keep up the good work. Thanks for letting us all know how they think they are above all of us and think they owe us and you not so much as the courtesy of a reply.

The problem is Dan Garcia doesn't care about anything but himself, then plus that he is a liar. PLEA has to mant pussies running it to hold Dan accountable. I hope FOP takes an educated run at getting rid of PLEA, good things come to those that wait Lou. PLEA is no longer about the members because they are about themselves, you know who you are.

Phoenix former mayor's son has officer certificate suspended

PHOENIX -- The son of former Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has had his law enforcement certification suspended following accusations he inappropriately touched a city employee while at work.
Television station KPHO reports that Officer Jeff Gordon appeared before the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board on Wednesday.
The board voted to suspend his certification for six months.
Looks like Harris and Mayor Gordon couldn't save their favorite son...
Gordon told the board he was remorseful.
The former mayor also attended Wednesday's proceeding.
The employee had said Gordon went too far when giving her a massage at work.
During an investigation, Gordon also admitted having sex while on duty.
Phoenix police say Gordon will be on an administrative assignment pending an appeal.

Those highly flammable polyester blend uniforms are great if all you do all day is parade up and down the air conditioned halls of 620 under the fire sprinkler system. Real cops on the street deserve comfort and fire protection. Check the awards ceremonies over the past years and see how many cops got awards for entering a burning building to rescue somebody before the FD could unass from their rocker recliners and get their. Why send cops into fire environments with unsafe uniforms?
BPC, you should post the resume of that so called police chief Dan Garcia. It is full of lies that he had during the interview process and also shows why he has to read everything to learn how to be a cop. He hasn’t been a street cop since 1981! If he had actually been a street cop for any length of time he would know his plans do not work.
I am a member of the Phoenix Police Dept. with 31 years experience and have been following the uniform issue which was recently mandated by Chief Daniel Garcia. This past July, after just 3 months on the job, he made a unilateral decision to ban a very popular and practical uniform without having the practical experience of performing actual police work in the Phoenix environment himself. He works in an air-conditioned office and does not have to carry all the equipment that the rank and file officers have to carry while performing their duties. He is well within his rights as Chief to mandate this but it seems out of touch with today’s police duties in Phoenix. He insists on pushing his mandate through regardless of the valid complaints of his officers. The Chiefs reasoning behind the banning of the uniform just doesn’t hold water either. The uniform he wishes to ban is and has been used effectively by many law enforcement agencies nationwide for many years. This issue was basically a police department internal issue that didn’t affect the public. It merely affected the morale of the officers. It now however has become an issue of public concern.
Department personnel have been advised that the City of Phoenix would reimburse all officers who purchased the banned uniform between January 1st, 2012 and July 16th, 2012. Considering there are approximately 3000 sworn officers and the cost for just one of the uniforms is approximately $150, the cost to the city could be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. That’s taxpayer money being wasted in what appears to be an attempt to appease officers. Common sense dictates that the mandate should be wholly rescinded. This mandate, which may now cost the taxpayer in upwards of six figures, certainly does not fit Chief Garcia’s mantra of “Policing with a Purpose”. It instead gives valid cause for public concern regarding the senseless and impractical waste of public funds.
Anyone hearing that Assistant Chief Tracey Montgomery is trying to keep the Honor Guard from attending Chief Kurtenbach's funeral Saturday? Anyone know why?
Racism is up and going in the PPD. Looks like the White House is looking for officers from throughout the country to help at the Presdiential Innaguration in January. Commander Brase was charged with selecting the officers. Glad to see whitey's (aka: crackers) didn't stand a chance since they are the majority in the PPD.
Here is Brase's e-mails documenting race was a major factor as to who was chosen. Does this mean Tracey gets to take some dykes with her?

The officers were selected by seniority in each ethnic/gender category proportionate to the ethnic/gender breakdown of the Police Department (the report can be found on the PPD Info center).

It is a tragic flaw in our current culture that systems have de-evolved from the merit system to the now prevalent ethnic/gender breakdown system.
Keep policing with that porpoise - they call him Flipper.
Why is it that this new Chief came into the Phoenix Police Department and decided to make "noise" about the Uniform? Because he is inept, incompetent, and unable to deal with the "real" issues facing our department. So he decided to create this diversion (uniform) so that he can mislead the public and his peers (and none of Us are his peers, for he has not EARNED our respect). The Phoenix Police Department is extremely broken!. There are extremely serious issues facing the department. Just the child sex crimes issue alone pale in comparison to Sheriff's Joe. (and that is just the tip of a very huge iceberg). I challenge each and every member of the police department to do the following (civilian or sworn): Write a letter to PLEA (anon or not) and relay just one (I know there are thousands) story that recounts the corruption and "state of affairs" of our beloved department,or in other words: the real issues that we face as PHOENIX POLICE OFFICERS and CIVILIANS, not DALLAS personnel. Our Strength is in our numbers. Our citizens deserve the truth! The department is running out of time! The truth WILL come to light. Unless you all want to be complicitous in this travesty that is now the PPD, we do have a duty to "speak up". The Chief wanted to send a "message" to the Department as to what he was all about. Let's send a message back and show him what PPD is all about! Many have worked too hard to see our department go back 20 years into the dark!

Recently Chief Danny “Attila” Garcia held a staff meeting consisting of Lt’s and above. He asked all present if they believed they were still police officers. A number of those present raised their hands. Garcia then told them they were wrong that they in fact are not police officers any longer; they are “managers” and if they thought any differently then they were in the wrong profession. Yup, this is fact!!!
Who is this guy? Every cop, regardless of rank, is first and foremost a police officer!
Every cop, regardless of rank, swore an oath to faithfully and impartially discharge their duties as a “police officer”. So in essence he is telling his staff to disregard their oath of office. If Garcia truly believes they are no longer officers then maybe he should fire all Lt’s, Commanders and Assistant Chiefs and replace them with civilian “managers”. That would save the city a lot of money in salaries.
This guy is way out of touch and through his recent decisions is showing he is nothing more than a despot. Maybe he is really a clone of RBO (former chief Ruben B. Ortega). The Phoenix P.D. is in a world of shit with this knucklehead at the helm. Jack Harris has got to be laughing his ass off right about now.
Jack Harris, Andy Anderson, Bill Louis and Jim Pina ran the PPD into the dirt. It is going to be almost impossible for anyone to resurrect it.
Has anyone seen Dan "Attila" Garcia out on any officers hurt or involved shootings? He must be more important than those dumb patrol officers that work the street.
